Ever thought of being in the wardrobe department for production houses in the future?

Think again.

HEH

So here's the thing, I joined the wardrobe department for this production titled "Endless Day".
It's a film about love during a war between the Japanese, British and Chinese.
It's not a really known production house (maybe to me la) but since all we need to contribute are a few days and some sweat in exchange for $$ and hopefully a good record in my portfolio, why not?

Seems like a pretty good deal right.... just arrange some few clothes and all's done...not.

We were given really thick brand new Japanese soldiers outfit and we had to make them look as though it has endured 5 years of war O.O

The main lead had the highest degree of damage and we had to create holes to make it seem more realistic. And the whole uniform had to be totally worn out.

The recent Saturday 10am-5pm was my first day and it was no easy feat i swear. Damn tiring and sweaty and dirty! Somemore, only 3 girls doing the tasks, wondergirls siaaa. But good la, can lose arm fats.

Damaging clothes is definitely a first for me...

The uniforms! Huge ones and a lot of details to cover.. look at the black thingy there (the sandpaper)

Hard at work

Don't we look oh-so-cool?

Anyway, Hayley showed me this just now

Really really true and meaningful

The end of an opportunity

Today marks the end of my volunteering service at Bishan Stadium for the Youth Olympic Games!

It was a once in a lifetime (well once in 200 years) opportunity and I am so glad I went for my duties. Although, my duty was situated at the dining area and i could not watch any competitions (or so i thought).

But new friendships were forged.
Of course, my fellow catering service crews!

And other friends that i made randomly.... (as said in the previous post)

And a few more whom i didn't manage to take a photo with....

They were the ones who made my boredom disappear by chatting with me and helping me enter the sports hall...secretly :D

The qualifying rounds for group gymnasts (hoops and ribbons) were held today and so i stayed back to watch. Team singapore participated and hey, we should be proud that they competed! Though they came in 5th out of 6 teams.

Team Russia was so unbelievably coordinated and in synced! Their choreography was freeeking awesome... and they deserved their 1st.

Too bad i'm not on duty anymore, if not I will definitely "pop" by to watch the finals tmr...

This is me with my Venue Catering Manager!! Presenting my certificate :)

If I had the chance to volunteer again, I would not hesitate to. But, perhaps i would choose to be in another section where I am more exposed than being cooped up.

Till then, Sayonara YOG and See you 200 years later!!

Saturday, August 21, 2010

And so, HELLO once again.

It's the YOG week and i have been rather caught up with my duty as a ...... catering service crew at Bishan Stadium (Gymnastics!!)
I was given the chance to be in the media area (school) but decided to stick with what i was originally located to. Thinking it might be fun too.

So, on the first day of my duty (Wed), I entered the dining area to realize all i had to do was to ensure that the diners (the workforce- volunteers) queued up for the buffet food -.-
The area was not that big, there were signs saying "Please queue here" and 3 other people guarding the sides. I thought it would be more fun than this!!

Luckily I made some new friends and 6 hours seem to pass rather quickly. And we were standing so close to the snacks and food that i kept on stealing food to munch on, while standing like a zombie ensuring people don't cut queue. Boring max.

Second day (thurs) with the same people! Stayed in the dining area the whole time and just crapped around. We were so slack! Just sitting around and talking instead of doing our job.
And since, i brought my lappy (well, to study ha ha ha obviously i didn't), it was camwhore time!

These are the girls on duty. Me, Shu Chen and Hafizah :D
Told ya we were just sitting around although there were people coming in to get food
With our catering service manager

The whole bunch of us! (Those in white were handling the food but we are kind of connected in a way)

Third day (Fri) A boring day turned exciting one!

I was supposed to be on shift with one of the usual girls, Shu Chen. But she didnt come!!!!
And my duty was 11am-6pm. Super long! And i was alone, in the sense that i didn't have anyone to crap with.

At times when there were little people dining, I just roamed around like a lost bird outside of the dining area. The sad thing was, my pass didn't allow me to enter the sports hall where the gymnasts were competing.... and i had so much free time. I was seriously bored out of my wits until i actually looked for random people who were doing their duty alone and started making small talks. Seriously.

And I met a nice girl who wanted to watch the competition too (we are sneaky people) so she brought me up!! Yippeee

The girls were competing on who could jump higher on the trampoline and break more bones. heh I was so thrilled to be there! Until i had to go back down to help out...........for like a while before i started roaming again.

And i went to talk to another girl! I am not really an anti-social person huh.
I heard that it was the men's gymnasts final that evening and I wanted to watch soooo badly.
FINALS LEH.

So since I end shift at 6pm and the finals starts around that time. I made a pact with her to sneak me in as well heh heh heh. They are nice people yay! One extra volunteer in the sports hall wont cause any harm right.........

Ukraine won! The whole thing was so damn awesome! Those guys can jump really high as though they were going to hit the roof anytime soon. And when Ukraine's coach hugged the winner, it was so sweet until it gave me diabetes. Awwww

Oh, actually staying in the dining area wasn't so bad because there were a few really hot athletes who came in to get food. And they stood directly in front of me. Awesome much :p

The remaining days of August are so packed. so so packed.

Now i'm just wondering how am i going to get enough time to study for exams.

I should be feeling guilty about spending Sun and Mon shopping instead of studying but nope, im not. Because it has been two satisfying money-spending days!

But with all satisfaction, comes major panicking.

I have WORK, YOG, PIANO and STUDYING to be done. And im still here blogging. nice.

and i feel like sleeping now. Double nice.

On a seperate note, yesterday after going to this abandoned place near Lasalle for an interview.
My friend introduced us this tiny shop that sells AWESOME tau-huey!!!! Really good!!

The tau-huey was sooo tender and sooo different from the usual. That was the first time i finished the whole thing. Oh, and i didn't know that Grass Jelly + Tau Huey was known as MICHAEL JACKSON LOL!

I thought it was just a joke but i asked my dad and that was the actual name for that dessert! hahah Later the real one come ah.

Can't my parents just calm down to discuss things sometimes??
It's really frustrating seeing them raise their voices really loudly over some MINOR stuffs when i just want things to be settled nicely.

I try to be nice, yes of course children must always respect their parents HUH.
So i ask her to lower down her volume cause i swear she was too much.
She didn't and she continued shouting so i couldnt take it and shouted too.

Now, i get scolded for being loud and rude. Oh and a teeny weeny slap on my cheek too.
Such a fair fair fair fair fair world. wtfffffff

I AM SO HAPPY! Today is a good shopping day with MOMO!

Now off to bury myself in loads of lecture notes. Sigh, all my planning of studying time
have gone haywire and i have to do some serious catch up!

If not, i will die from the hectic schedule of YOG( there's one day at 6am! WTHHHH) and work.

The past 4 days were rather well-spent!
Since the start of the self-declared holidays, I have been going out every single day.
So let's rewind back to monday....

MONDAY national day

Went for Sinyee's birthday picnic at Fort Canning Park in the afternoon.
It's been ages since I last went there (for primary schAlign Leftool excursions) and well, it still looks the same. Trees, plants and more TREES and EVEN MORE TREES. Well, we saw a couple of chickens (what in the world are they doing there?!) and squirrels!!

Me and Hayley met the rest at a later time and it was hilarious to see a small group of them sitting down in the middle of nowhere. It was a rather relax picnic, monopoly deal and food.
But as they were playing, Me Hayley and Chandhini decided to take a stroll under the deadly heat and just ketchup with each other.

So after that, we headed over to PasirRis park to meet the bandies for BBQ.
Heard that this year's fireworks was going to be awesome but decided to give it a miss :(
cause BBQ food was more tempting LOL
But, i only ate 4 prawns and a half-cooked chicken! DAMNZXZXZ
nehmind, at least have fun people around which made the night better!

So, since it was start of the wooo~wooo~ (ghosts) festival, it was better to reach home before 12. I was freaking paranoid when walking back home. Kept imaging that there were those around then keep saying sorry whenever i felt like i stepped on something that i should not step on. But ah, better be safe than sorry.

TUESDAY

Met Calista at Kranji MRT in the late afternoon. We planned to hang out and chillax for a while before heading down to Mediacorp for Entertainment on 5 ( Kuijien!!!!! :):):):)). Well, you should know the real reason why we wanted to go yehhhh ^^

Walked around IMM and we got lost -.- while searching for burger king.
Either we two really mei-you-nao, or the designer of IMM sucks big time.

Took a cab down from SP and immediately regretted wasting money on taxi fare because we had to queue and wait for a bloody long time. before we could enter the studio. WALAO.

But, all irritation and impatience disappeared the moment we saw one of the cutest guys!

My impression of Kuijien: Cute but not too humorous (based on the episodes that ive watched)

Oh boy, how wrong i was. Not only was he CUTE but he was super COMICAL! He made funny faces, he had random actions, and just so adorable awwwww heheheh but he's married so um ya. After the recording, we rushed down to take a picture with him DUH no hesitation at all please

photo.php.jpg

MAJOR CUTENESS!!!! AHHHH

Wait look closely...what's that thingy at my back? HIS HANDS!! HAHAHAHA

Ok stop julie.

And so, I went back home feeling satisfied :)

WEDNESDAY

It was the rehearsal of the YOG opening ceremony and Hui Yi had free tickets so Ziana and me went with her :D
It was going to start at 7.30pm but being naturally kaisu, we reached the floating bay at 5.30pm.
There is one thing that i felt incredibly lame.

We entered from the arrow on the left. But instead of allowing us to just walk straight ahead to the floating platform. They made us walk one HUGE round, up the hill and down through the helix bridge. The best thing was, it was still raining and i am scared of walking fast for fear that i may fall. Especially since i was wearing slippers.

Such torture.

Italic

So we reached our seats and had to endure the rain in our cute little ponchos for about 2 hours. Now i am wondering how we managed to while away the time.....

The performance was pretty good and the high factor(for Ziana) was when Steve Appleton appeared. HAHA she went crazy i swear.

And there was also a time when all 200 countries name were slowly being read. My gosh, a long long time. There were cheers for Spain, Argentina (must be from soccer fans huh), Malaysia but the loudest was for Singapore! Made me so proud to be a Singaporean, really :)

Now a bit lazy to write about yesterday, so i am gonna end here!

Today will be a productive day with less comp and procrastination and more studying done.

My mouth is very tired already....

Today i spent almost 5 hours talking and talking and talking and talking!
and talking some more with my band peeps :D

Went back to Hougang Sec in the morning for alumni band practice and oh boy, my tone suck like shit.
Well, it wasn't even great to start with. Now it's worse...yipee.............

After practice at 1pm, where else to go but the FAMOUS hougang point!! Our territory.
(Chandhini, Elijah, Ziana, Angelina, Me and Potato) settled at KFC and started talking and talking and talking and talking and eating and eating.
For about 3 hours? i think
We were busy talking about random stuffs like shit, the show "Human Centipede" (Which is btw damn gross to the max) and gossips IN KFC. i pity those other diners manz heheehe
Lucky they never throw fries at us because we were seriously creating a din.

After our butts turned numb, we decided to leave and head somewhere else.
But, WITHOUT FAIL, we would end up standing at one spot thinking where to go
and will never ever decide cause of our fickle minds

But whatever, guess where we went next??

MACDONALDS -.- Just to sit and talk somemore. Why so many things to talk ah?
Well, we are girls after all ^^ (Elijah left already btw)

So finally at around 6pm, we headed back home and my mouth was seriously damn damn damn thirsty

It has been such a long time since I've hanged out and talked this much!! Awesome shitz

*Sidetrack*

I am currently hooked to this show

Currently at episode 4 and it's already making me very excited! I want to watch more!
Last night, I planned on watching JUST ONE PART of an episode (every episode has 5 parts) but obviously, it didn't work out. I just kept pressing next until one whole episode was over. That's how addictive it is!

There was another time (while addicted to another show) , i kept watching and watching until 6 freaking AM. The thing was that, I didn't even realize it was that "EARLY" already..................

BUT ANY SHOW THAT STARS ETHAN RUAN IS WORTH THE TIME!!

:D:D:D:D:D

A smile begets a smile. True much?

I love entering a bus and seeing the bus driver smile :)
It feels very heartwarming and brightens up my day, all the time.
Just like this afternoon! Although it is tiring to smile to so many people (Just imagine, how many people enter the bus), he made that effort.
A cheerful and warm smile is contagious :):)

It would make my day even more when they say "good morning" too!

There will also be times when I am outside and walking around aimlessly.
At time, I will accidentally catch a stranger's eye but instead of looking away immediately, we will give each other a small smile. It is nice to know that there are many friendly people out there...

So there's no harm just smiling and spreading the joy! After all, it has been scientifically proven that it takes more muscles to frown than to smile

Holidays(self declared because it is the study break) are coming in just two days time and I JUST CANT WAIT FOR IT.
I'm kinda in the holiday spirit already but no, i still have two bloody-huge-ass-freaking-hell 40- urgh-percent exams to study for... WHAT.

That's just a spoiler.

So yes, after the exams it will actually be REAL holidays and i am already planning what to do then.

1) Practice practice and practice my piano. Like hardcore. Piano exam's end of Sept and I just want to pass. That is all i'm asking for, a pass. For now, it seems rather impossible......

2) Catch up with old friends.. those that i have not met since last year. CHONG REN YI
Gosh, as time flies, the further people drift apart.

3) Find a part time job! I am not in desperate need of cash but i would love to earn some extra income to do the following....

4) SHOPPING. god, im deprived. Everyday, i look through my wardrobe thinking of what to wear and in the end, i always wear the same few stuffs. Because, i am comfortable in them and its not too much for school. I have dresses but i don't really like wearing them to school because it's just school! Unless, I have the mood. Guess what, i only have ONE trusty pair of jeans. And my shorts are limited. People who know me will know i always wear the same pair of shorts ^^

5) Outing to the zoo! and relishing childhood memories there... Because the last time i went, I was like...............i cant remember O.O (it must be a single digit age)
And i love animals! well, only the cute ones, heh.

6) Organize a sleep over at my house! Cousins? Friends? gossip all night, kick of anyone that snores loudly, movie marathon.

Okay, i cant think of anything else that i wanna do. Maybe sleep more and be addicted to restaurant city (thanks avelyn! haha).

My dad may seem like the quiet and fierce sort but damn, he's actually really lame!

Just a few minutes ago, he asked me and my mom what is a female papaya called..

MAMAYA! This is a lame joke brought to you by my dad

GAWDGAWDGAWD

oh and my mother just told me a true story that happened on the radio long time ago

Radio DJ (asking anybody who is listening): What is the opposite of a cock(Male chicken)?

Obviously the answer is a HEN but someone actually called in to give a funny, yet obscene answer! I am sure you can guess already JI BYE

HELLO EVERYBODY!

This morning, while I was on the bus, I was just thinking about blogging and the stuffs i post.
And i thought of something that i could do! EPIC MOMENT OF THE DAY!!

Awesome or not??

So, I will just post up the most silliest/craziest/funniest/lamest moment everyday (hopefully) just for some laughs!

soooooo... today's epic moment!

Avelyn (poly classmate) and my blurness or rather, bimbo-ness

We were trying to take a regular photo using photobooth. Before that, we were taking a video.
But, we forgot. So, we kept started smiling and looking all photogenic for the computer...
Avelyn even had a twist sign!

After 5 secs, i was wondering why it took so long for the picture to be captured.
That was when both of us realise we were actually taking a video of ourselves -.-

I know, i know, it does not sound very funny but it really was at that time......

:)

________________________________________________________

Long and tiring day at school, rushing the props for tomorrow's studio production FINAL
DEMO SHOW! We have got to give it our best shot ^^

Since our theme was DIY creations... we decided to create our backdrop while following the
theme and so our wonderful and brilliant mind came up with these

SCRAP BUTTONS!!
It may look oh-so-easy to do, but hey, we spend almost 2 hours making 6 buttons...
Can you spot the hidden mickey? If you can't, i will gladly say that you are blind.
So many styrofoam bits all over the floor. We made a huge huge mess and LOOK SINGAPORE IS SNOWING!

The feeling you get after finishing it is just pure satisfaction!

Random things makes me happy :)

At this time in the night, or should i say morning.. Im feeling a little restless but i cannot get to sleep. So, i search for random stuffs to perk myself up!

Aren't these cup cakes gorgeous? and looks like it will taste so good?
I have yet to try a pretty looking cup cake before :(

One day, i shall learn how to bake these.... one day. which may never come.

And, i suddenly recalled about an article i read about this young girl with her special friend
.
.
.

.
A BABY MONKEY!!!!

So amazing, how these two oversee their differences to be such wonderful friends...
